Fine Gael ministers – ‘Steel Tory edge behind the soft media smiles,’ says Sinn Féin TD

● Fine Gael Ministers Simon Coveney, Leo Varadkar, Frances Fitzgerald and Paschal Donohoe

FINE GAEL MINISTERS Paschal Donohoe, Simon Harris, Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar represent “the steel Tory edge behind the soft media smiles in Fine Gael”, Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane has said.

The Waterford TD was speaking after an interview in which Public Expenditure & Reform Minister Donohoe said that Fine Gael will continue to cut funding for public services because there is no money but will also continue to cut taxes because the economy is booming.

“Which one is it? There is a contradiction here,” David Cullinane (pictured) said.

“It exists because Minister Donohoe and Fine Gael are committed at an ideological level to cutting public services regardless of the social and economic costs.

“Minister Donohoe believes in cutting the social net. He wants to do this no matter how weak the footing on which his arguments stand.

“Paschal Donohoe, Simon Harris, Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar represent the steel Tory edge behind the soft media smiles in Fine Gael today.

“They want to cut public services and outsource the rest as juicy public contracts for private operators.

“It’s no wonder Fianna Fáil supports them.”
