TV challenge to SDLP to tell voters their plan on government before poll on 5 May

● SDLP looking up to Sinn Féin

SINN FÉIN'S Michelle O'Neill has called out the SDLP and the Ulster Unionist Pary on their 'wish list' manifestos ahead of next month's Assembly elections.

Speaking during the latest televised election debate hosted by UTV, Michelle O'Neill, said the manifestos were not costed and would not deliver for voters.

The Sinn Féin Agriculture Minister took part in the debate from an engineering firm in Moyola, near Castledawson in her own Mid Ulster constituency, alongside the the SDLP's Ferghal McKinney, the UUP's Danny Kennedy, Alliance's Naoimi Long and the DUP's Simon Hamilton.

“These are wish list manifestos,” the Sinn Féin Agriculture Minister said.

The Agriculture Minister also challenged the SDLP over whether they are planning to go into government or join the Ulster Unionist Party in opposition after the poll on 5 May.

She confronted Ferghal McKinney on why, with just three weeks to go until the election, the SDLP have not told voters whether they intend to go into government.

“Are you going into government or not, Ferghal?” she asked.

The SDLP deputy leader was less than forthright in his answer, eventually saying only that he is running for government.
