The Irish Volunteer - Óglach na hÉireann, Volume 2 - Number 41
There is a detailed report of a protest meeting of 10,000 people in the Phoenix Park against the prosecution of Irish Volunteer organisers under the Defence of the Realm Act.
James Connolly, Hanna Sheehy Skeffington and The O’Rahilly are among the speakers. The meeting demanded the release of Seán Mac Diarmada, Liam Mellows and others held under the Act.
The O’Rahilly told the meeting that he had the honour of possessing a certificate from General Friend telling him he was not a proper person to live within the Counties of Cork, Kerry or Limerick. A Kerryman himself, O’Rahilly was barred from these counties to prevent him organising the Volunteers.
