Gaza Toy Drive – ‘Hell and Back’ fundraising push for Palestine
By Oisín Mac Canna
A TEAM of four people (including yours truly) are to take up the gruelling “Hell and Back – Ireland’s Toughest Physical and Mental Endurance Challenge” on 25 January to raise money for the Gaza Toy Drive.
For many years now, the people of Gaza have been living in hellish conditions with 16,000 homes destroyed beyond repair and as many as 3,600 children physically injured or killed, all in the most recent offensive alone.
The main aim of Gaza Toy Drive is to collect, ship and deliver children’s toys and clothes along with medical aid to the people of Gaza who are in need of it most.
After countless hours of collecting clothes and organising logistics by many volunteer workers, a substantial quota has been reached. The next step is to actually send the relief aid into Gaza.
The one thing that is standing in the way of this is the cost of shipping the containers into the relief zone.
By undertaking ‘Hell and Back’ we aim to raise awareness of this outstanding cause and urge as many people as possible to donate what they can on the Gaza Toy Drive website which can be found at www.gazatoydrive.org
Thank you.
