Willie Frazer's crowning headache may see him in court

FRINGE loyalist campaigner Willie Frazer may find himself in court – sued by his beloved Queen Elizabeth – over his Protestant Coalition allegedly misusing an official, copyright British royal crown in their logo.

The news comes as police in England announced they are investigating the Protestant Coalition's sister organisation, the far-Right Britain First, for breach of royal copyright over the depiction of St Edward’s crown on its official merchandise.

The logo of the Six-County-based Protestant Coalition, which was founded in 2013 by people behind Britain First, is very similar and also depicts the royal crown.

Under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 it is illegal “in the course of any trade or business” to give “false indication” that any goods or services are “approved by Her Majesty”.

The Advertising Standards Agency said that all images of the crown must be removed from Britain First's website.

“We understood from the Cabinet Office that the Lord Chamberlain's Office, responsible for authorising official use of the Royal Crown and Scottish Arms, had not granted permission for Britain First to use the royal emblems on their merchandising.”

Willie Frazer is currently in a court battle battle with Respect Party MP George Galloway alleging libel regarding comments made against Galloway in Belfast earlier this year.
