Hundreds in Belfast ‘Run to Rebuild Gaza’

SUNDAY 28 SEPTEMBER saw hundreds of people from across Belfast gather at the Dairy Farm Shopping Centre at Twinbrook on the outskirts of the city for a sponsored walk and run to raise funds for the relief of the beleaguered Palestinian people of Gaza and the rebuilding of their communities.

Young and old, the youthful runners, the ‘once a month’ joggers, the ‘I’d forgotten what my legs were for walkers’ and the man in the wheelchair all set off with an enthusiasm that knew no bounds.

And if the huge crowd and the determination of the participants told us anything it’s that the oppressed Palestinian people and population of Gaza have a special place in the hearts of so many Irish people.
