Sinn Féin MEPs visiting Palestine meet Palestinian Ambassador to EU
SINN FÉIN MEPs Martina Anderson, Lynn Boylan and Matt Carthy are travelling to Palestine on Thursday as part of a delegation of 13 MEPs from six different countries.
During the visit the delegation will meet with a wide range of human rights groups as well as members of the Palestinian Legislative Council and the Israeli Parliament (Knesset).
MEP Martina Anderson said:
“Going to Palestine is part of our ongoing engagement in Europe to end the suffering of the people of Gaza.
“The Palestinian people were encouraged by the huge demonstrations of support for the people of Gaza broadcast from all over the world, including Ireland.
“As Chair of the Palestinian Delegation of the European Parliament, I will be leading a group of MEPs on a visit to Palestine to witness at first-hand the devastation caused by the recent Israeli onslaught.
“The EU can play an important role in finding an enduring peaceful settlement between Israel and Palestine, lifting the Israeli blockade of Gaza and insisting on unimpeded humanitarian access.”
