Video – Hundreds rally in support of locked out Greyhound workers
HUNDREDS of supporters joined the locked out Greyhound workers to march from Liberty Hall to Dublin City Council on Monday to support the staff who have been locked out since 17 June due to their opposition to attempts by management to force workers to accept a 35% pay cut.
Dublin City Council passed a motion at its meeting in support of the workers.
Sinn Féin Councillor Daithí Doolan said:
"This dispute goes far beyond Greyhound. It goes to the core of how this industry is managed. Since the privatisation of the waste collection service it has led to this essential service run by cowboys."
He called on the Chief Executive of Dublin City Council to "immediately enter discussions with trade unions with the view to bringing the domestic waste collection service back in to City Council ownership."
