The front pages stresses that the Volunteers are “national and non-political” but behind the scenes John Redmond’s Irish Party is becoming alarmed at the growth of the Volunteers and wants to control them. This will lead to a crisis later in the year. The founding of a Cumann na mBan branch in Limerick is reported and military articles include “Cyclist Infantry”.
