Record number of Sinn Féin candidates for Belfast City Council
SINN FÉIN has nominated a record number of candidates to contest seats on Belfast City Council in the upcoming local elections in May.
Sinn
Féin Councillor Deirdre Hargey said:
"We are standing a 23 candidates which encompasses youth, experience,
gender and geography. We will be standing on our record of delivering for the
people of Belfast in moving the city forward as a place where people can come
to do business, be educated or set up home."
Both Sinn Féin and the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) currently have 16 seats each on Belfast City Council, followed by the SDLP with 8 and Alliance with 6.
Deirdre Hargey told An Phoblacht that she is confident Sinn Féin will be the largest party on the council following the elections of 22 May.
