PSNI trying to stop truth on RUC killing of unarmed IRA Volunteer
THE APPEAL by the PSNI Chief Constable and the Coroner against a High Court call for a new inquest into the 1992 RUC killing of unarmed IRA Volunteer Pearse Jordan is to stop the truth coming out, Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has said.
Pearse was shot dead by the RUC on the Falls Road in west Belfast in November 1992. The 23-year-old was unarmed when he was gunned down but the RUC issued statements claiming he was armed.
The inquest into Pearse’s killing has been consistently delayed by the authorities.
Pat Sheehan said:
“Rather than trying to conceal the truth the Coroner and the PSNI Chief Constable should be doing all in their power to bring to light the facts around Pearse Jordan’s death as soon as possible.”
