Housing Minister Jan O'Sullivan confronted by angry residents
The Labour Party Minister was there as part of a Government publicity event to highlight work done on installing insulation into a number of council homes.
ANGRY local residents confronted Minister of State for Housing and Planning Jan O'Sullivan over the Government's failure to address the crisis in social housing during a planned photo-op in the Corduff area of Blanchardstown.
The Labour Party Minister was there as part of a Government publicity event to highlight work done on installing insulation into a number of council homes.
Local Sinn Féin representative Paul Donnelly told An Phoblacht that while his party welcomed the installation of the insulation in Corduff, there were other serious issues which have not been tackled such as huge social housing waiting lists, the failure of some landlords to accept tenants on Rent Allowance and the poor quality of current social housing stock.
Due to the protests a planned reception in a nearby community centre for O'Sullivan and the Fine Gael Mayor of Fingal, Kieran Dennison, was called-off.
