Youth activist Ryan Brady laid to rest in Milltown Cemetery

Ryan Brady August 2008

HUNDREDS of people attended the funeral in Belfast on Tuesday 3 September of 18-year-old Ryan Brady (right), who died on holiday in Spain on 24 August.

Ryan, a founding member of the Belfast-based Mairead Farrell Youth Committee, was a popular young man and an energetic, campaigning activist. His death was deeply felt by his many friends and comrades in the republican youth organisations throughout the country. This was evidenced in the fact that many young activists travelled to west Belfast for his burial.

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD, West Belfast MP Paul Maskey and many other Sinn Féin figures were among the hundreds of mourners present to show their support for the Brady family and the sense of loss to the community.

Ryan was buried in Belfast’s Milltown Cemetery.
