Unionist paramilitaries threaten bar owners in Larne
A BAR OWNER in Larne, County Antrim, has told Sinn Féin that men claiming to represent unionist paramilitaries visited several pubs in the seaport link with Scotland on Saturday with warnings not to serve Catholics.
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan said he believes that ongoing tensions between unionist paramilitaries in the Larne area is now manifesting itself in a sectarian campaign against local Catholics.
He said:
“At a time when people are attempting to promote Larne, we see that unionist paramilitaries are determined to put their stamp on the town, making it an unwelcome place for many people.
“It is important that these threats are lifted immediately so that we can create a town that is welcoming to everyone.”
He called on anyone facing this sort of intimidation to contact the PSNI.
