Video: MLA and former hunger striker speaks at first congress of Sortu in Basque Country
West Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan delivers a message of solidarity from republicans in Ireland to the first national congress of new pro-independence Basque political party Sortu at the weekend.
The former IRA hunger striker spoke of the close links between the Irish and Basque people and pledged the support of Sinn Féin to Sortu's efforts to bring about a lasting peace process in the Basque Country.
He also called for the release of Basque political prisoners and for the Spanish and French states to pursue meaningful dialogue with the aim of bringing about an end to the conflict.
