'There is a clear need to enhance people’s quality of life and improve the services in the wider area.'
A LEAFLET will be delivered by Sinn Féin to every home in the Falls area of west Belfast highlighting some of the initiatives being delivered locally to address social need.
Organisations represented at the launch of the co-ordinated initiative on Tuesday in the Maureen Sheehan Centre in Divis by deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, local MLA and Assembly Junior Minister Jennifer McCann, West Belfast MP Paul Maskey, local MLA Fra McCann and Councillor Jim McVeigh included:-
■ West Belfast Partnership Board
■ Falls Community Council
■ Falls Residents Association
■ PSNI
Paul Maskey said:
“The Falls area of West Belfast is home to a very strong, proud, working-class community. The area has suffered disproportionately in the conflict and through years of chronic under-investment. There is a clear need to enhance people’s quality of life and improve the services in the wider area.
“What we have here is a great opportunity for the community to move forward in a positive manner by developing the area through environmental improvements, educational initiatives, increasing employment opportunities, safer communities and in general helping to grow further that great pride that the Falls community is so well-known for.”
