Ulster Bank boss holds on to job – Barclays chief resigns
Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty and Daithí McKay confronted the Ulster Bank boss
ULSTER BANK boss Jim Brown has finally said he won’t take a bonus after pressure from Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty and MLA Daithí McKay, who confronted him with customers’ anger during hearings in the Dáil and Assembly this week.
They pressed Brown not just to forsake his bonus but to resign because of the continuing chaos that has afflicted up to half a million customers and the people they do business with.
Sinn Féin’s Daithí McKay told the Ulster Bank CEO that the crisis is “an appalling episode”.
Jim Brown at first refused to comment on whether he’d take his anticipated bonus but later, under continuing pressure from the public and politicians, said he will not now be taking it.
For now, he is holding on to his job, if not his bonus.
Another banker did resign, though.
Barclays bank CEO Robert Diamond quit for being at the helm during an interest rate-rigging scandal by Barclays affecting banks and customers across the world.Follow us on Facebook
