O’Donovan Rossa Hurling blitz

Sinn Féin West Belfast MP Paul Maskey, Culture Minister Caral Ní Chuilin MLA and local Councillor Emma Groves with O’Donovan Rossa GAC U10 hurlers Ruairí Murray and Owen May at the club’s U10 hurling tournament held on Monday 4 June in honour of Joe McKelvey.

Sixteen teams from across Counties Antrim and Down competed in the all-day blitz with the host club running out eventual winners.

Belfast republican McKelvey, a founder member of the Rossa club, was executed by the Free State Government in December 1922 alongside Liam Mellows, Dick Barrett and Rory O’Connor.
