Sinn Féin Ard Fheis in Killarney this weekend

Gerry Adams’s Presidential Address on Saturday televised on RTÉ1 at 5:30pm and BBC2 at 6pm

Guest speakers include the head of trade union UNITE, Jimmy Kelly; a former worker from Vita Cortex; and representatives from the ANC, Palestine and the Basque Country

JOBS and growth, Irish unity and the Austerity Treaty will be the key issues addressed at the Sinn Féin Ard Fheis in Kerry this weekend.

The theme of the Ard Fheis is ‘A New Republic – A New Future.’

Fifteen hundred delegates will be in the INEC in Killarney on Friday and Saturday to debate almost 200 motions across a wide range of topics.

A number of guests will address the Ard Fheis, including the head of trade union UNITE, Jimmy Kelly; a former worker from Vita Cortex; representatives from the ANC, Palestine and the Basque Country; and Terry O’Sullivan, President of the Laborers’ International Union of North America.

Foyle MLA Martina Anderson said:

“The Ard Fheis will see an emphasis on the current economic situation in Ireland with the austerity agenda by the Fine Gael/Labour Coalition and the imposition of Tory cuts in the North.

“People across the island of Ireland are seeking a new way forward and a new kind of politics. Republican politics and republican values were never more required or relevant that in the Ireland of 2012.

“Sinn Féin is showing that there is a better way to deal with the problems our economy and our society now face.”
