IRA claims hit in Derry shooting

DERRY BRIGADE Oglaigh na hEireann say an undercover British soldier was killed or seriously wounded when one of its units fired on an unmarked military van in the Foyle Road area of the city on Tuesday 10 June.

The IRA said that a British undercover patrol was travelling along Foyle Road near the Brandywell area when their Volunteers opened fire.

The IRA statement said, ``one of our active service units opened fire on a British army undercover unit, travelling in a van, near the Brandywell in Derry at mid-day on Tuesday. One of the British soldiers travelling in the vehicle was either killed or seriously wounded''.
