Doherty to compile valuable tourism and job creation report
“Tourism, particular in western counties, holds major potential for job creation, yet that potential is not being realized,” Doherty said recently. “Ireland needs to examine how best to tap into the tourist market and ensure that all the advantages and attractions that we have are being promoted. The potential of the tourism sector needs also to be embraced in order to create much-needed jobs, particularly in some of our rural communities. In my report I intend to examine all of these issues and provide the committee and government with concrete recommendations that will both create jobs within this sector and also attract more visitors to our regions.”
