Tyrone republicans in shock at the passing of party colleague

WEST TYRONE Sinn Féin members are coming to terms with news of the sudden death of Liam Coyle.
Liam was the chairperson of Sinn Féin in the Omagh district and was an active member of the Tyrone Sinn Féin Commemoration Committee. He was heavily involved with the Martin Hurson Memorial Band and led them last month at the annual Easter Parade in Carrickmore.
He also left behind a wife and three children, the youngest aged 10 months.
According to local Councillor Declan Mc Aleer, who was a close friend of Liam’s:
“The republican family are in a state of total shock at the passing of our esteemed friend and colleague, Liam.
“Liam, who just turned 40 on April 27th, was a dedicated and committed republican who worked selflessly on behalf of the party for over 20 years. He played a pivotal role during the election campaign last month and shared in the celebrations last weekend as Sinn Féin consolidated its position as the leading party in the Six Counties.

LIAM LED BY EXAMPLE
Echoing Councillor Mc Aleer’s words, newly-elected MP Pat Doherty said:
“Liam was a republican who led by example. For instance, during the most recent campaign, he canvassed hundreds of doors in Omagh during the evening and, after canvassing hours, he went out postering until the small hours of the morning, and then got up later in the morning and went to his work as a furniture removal man.
“On behalf of Sinn Féin and the wider republican family, I wish to extend heartfelt sorrow and sympathy to Liam’s wife, Connie, and their three children, Leanne, Megan and Callum.”
• Liam’s remains will repose at the family home in Shergrim Grove, Omagh, during Sunday. Funeral Mass will take place at 10am on Monday in the Sacred Heart Chapel, Omagh, followed immediately by burial in Drumragh Graveyard.
