New Kerry Cumann launched

“It is the responsibility of each member and party activist to be of assistance to those within our communities.  It is through providing help to each other and by working hard on issues of local importance that the presence of the party will be strengthened in the area”, this was according to Con Walsh, Chairperson of the newly established Jeremiah O’Leary Cumann in Castleisland, Co. Kerry at the commemoration which took place in the town last Sunday 9 May.
The day was marked by good weather and a large turnout of both party activists and supporters for the march through Ireland’s second widest street to the republican monument at the top of the town.
The main speaker on the day was Tralee Town and Kerry County Councillor Toiréasa Ferris.  In a week which saw Greek marchers chanting “This is Greece not Ireland, we fight back” as they demonstrated against cuts in public spending, Councillor Ferris spoke of the need for the Irish public to mobilise themselves and indicate their dissatisfaction with our current government.
The Jeremiah O’Leary Cumann in Castleisland would like to thank all those who participated in and attended the commemoration last Sunday.
