Anti-community activity in Toome down to a few

TOOME: The pensioner’s broken window

A tiny minority of individuals are responsible for a spate of anti-community activity in the Toome area, according to Sinn Féin’s Mitchel McLaughlin. This week saw more rowdy partying and culminated in the windows of a pensioner’s home being broken.
The Sinn Féin MLA appealed to residents in areas in which this anti-community element act-up continuously to bring forward the names of individuals or families who are persistently involved in order to decide how best to confront the problem.
“Residents do not have to persevere and turn a blind eye out of fear of these people,” he said. “There are mechanisms and avenues through which we can pursue persistent offenders and I will provide assistance through my constituency office to anyone who wishes to proceed through a complaints procedure.
“I would encourage residents who wish to eradicate this type of behavior from their neighbourhoods to be vigilant by looking out for each other and logging incidents and names of those involved so that statutory agencies can build a case to take action against them.”
