Remember the H-Block Hunger Strikers
THIS WEEK marks the 29th anniversary of the death on hunger strike of Bobby Sands MP in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh on May 5th 1981.
We honour and salute the courage and sacrifice of Bobby and his comrades, Francis Hughes, Ray McCreesh, Patsy O’Hara, Joe McDonnell, Martin Hurson, Kevin Lynch, Kieran Doherty, Thomas McElwee and Mickey Devine, who also gave their lives on hunger strike in the H-Blocks.
“They won’t break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon.”
