Campaign to save Wexford General A&E services

As part of Sinn Féin’s ongoing campaign to ensure there will be no downgrading of A&E services at Wexford General Hospital, a protest and petition signing will take place in Gorey on Saturday 24 April between 10 am and 12 noon and in the afternoon from 2 pm until 4 pm on the main street and in various other areas of the town.
A similar campaign was undertaken in Wexford last month and thousands of signatures were collected.  It is anticipated that many more will be collected this week in Gorey.  This is a county campaign, as Wexford Hospital belongs to all the people of Wexford.  Its aim is to highlight the danger of closing the hospital and the fact that once the services are withdrawn they will never return.  Withdrawing services in Wexford General will pose a serious threat to the people of the county and in particular the people of Gorey, as they will be forced to travel an extra 25 miles to access medical attention in Waterford and this could prove fatal in an emergency.
