Sinn Féin condemns Meigh shooting
The victim was shot in the legs when gunmen burst into his home late on Saturday evening. Also present during the attack was the victim’s pregnant wife. The victim was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital.
Reacting, Conor Murphy said: “The attack on this young man in the presence of his pregnant wife was wrong. The perpetrators of these type of attacks have no support for their actions and I would urge anyone with information relating to this to pass it on to the PSNI.”
His party colleague,e Councillor Packie McDonald, said: “The community is disgusted at this attempted extortion by a gang purporting to have a political agenda. There is absolutely no support for this activity in South Armagh. This gang has nothing whatsoever to offer which would benefit our community.”
