Dwyer decision 'disappointing'

Sinn Féin General Secretary Dawn Doyle has described the decision of John Dwyer to resign from the party, only days after the people of New Ross elected him as a Sinn Féin representative, “as disappointing”.
Dawn Doyle said:
“It is disappointing that John Dwyer has chosen to resign from the party only days after the people of New Ross elected him as a Sinn Féin representative.  He had an opportunity to run as an independent and chose not to do so, instead publicly committing himself to standing as a Sinn Féin candidate.  He should now honour the election pledge that he made and return his seat to the party.”
