MALA POIST

Ireland’s Future

As the latest budget begins to bite it is now abundantly clear that this government is not only ruthless but completely inept. However there is another way, I mean of course the oil and gas off the west coast of Ireland. The government estimates that the stocks are worth €540,000,000,000 (yes that is almost as many zero’s as deductions in our wages these days), as it stands we get nothing from this. This would alleviate the pain of this serious economic downturn, no more unfair levies, taxes etc. and would provide the exchequer with valuable cash to invest in schools, hospitals and stimulate the economy. This is  surely an election winning issue and Sinn Féin should put the nationalisation of these resources at the heart of its agenda, or at the very least a massive tax on the profits which foreign oil companies make like Norway where it is 78%. Sinn Féin needs to stand out from the crowd on this one and it is time for real and radical change in this country and lets hope we can provide it.
