Ardoyne remembers Volunteers

A large crowd of North Belfast republicans turned out last Saturday to mark the 30th anniversary of three IRA Volunteers who were killed on active service in 1978.
The three Volunteers – Dinny Brown, Jackie Mailey and Jim Mulvenna were cut down by the SAS as they were carrying out a bombing mission on a communications target in the loyalist Ballysillan area in North Belfast.
On Saturday, 21 June, which marked the 30th Anniversary of the deaths of the three Volunteers a large crowd of republicans gathered at Milltown Cemetery before parading behind a colour party to the Republican Plot where the the three fallen comrades are buried.
Former Sinn Féin councillor Gerard McGuigan delivered the main oration at the commemoration which also saw the families of the Volunteers lay wreaths.
Wreaths were also laid on behalf of Óglaigh na hÉireann.
