Fergal O'Hanlon Memorial lecture

Michael Kenny, Assistant Curator, National Museum of Ireland, delivered the 26th Annual Fergal O’Hanlon Memorial Lecture in Monaghan town last Sunday 20 April. Councillor Pádraigín Uí Mhurchadha, Méara Bhaile Mhuineachán, sister of Fergal, presented Michael with publications issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Brookeborough Raid in which Fergal and Seán Sabhat were fatally wounded. Michael Kenny’s lecture was on ‘The Fenians at Home and Abroad’, marking the 150th anniversary this year of the founding of the Irish Republican Brotherhood. An Phoblacht next week will carry an edited version of the lecture.
