Boylan lobbies US Presidential hopefuls on undocumented Irish

NEWRY and Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan has written to all candidates in the race for the Presidency of the United States of America to urge them to support what he terms a ‘Path to New Citizenship’ for an estimated 50,000 undocumented Irish presently living there.
“These thousands of Irish émigrés in America who, despite having made a positive contribution to US society, find themselves classed as felons,” explained Cathal.
“I have urged each of them in this Presidential election year to raise a case for these hard-working, law-abiding Irish people to be brought into the fold of US life in a complete way, allowing them to be given an amnesty which would enable them to travel freely between their homeland and the United States without fear or penalty.”
