New Sinn Féin Councillor in Dublin

On Monday, 7 January Seamus McGrattan was co-opted onto Dublin City Council in place of Nicky Kehoe as the Sinn Féin Councillor in the Cabra/Glasnevin ward.
The 24-year-old comes from the Kinvara area of Cabra and has been a member of Sinn Féin since 2002. He was a key member of the Cabra election team in the last two elections working closely with both Nicky Kehoe and Mary Lou McDonald.  He is also closely involved with the Naomh Fionnbara GAA club in Cabra especially in the coaching of hurling. He is currently the Chairman of the Club Juvenile Section.
Speaking on the night of the co-option Seamus acknowledged that he had “big shoes to fill” with regard to replacing Nicky Kehoe on the Council considering Nicky’s level of delivery for the community. “However with a strong cumann and local support base in the Community I believe Sinn Féin can go from strength to strength in this area”.
In one of his first actions as a Cllr, Seamus voted for the Sinn Féin emergency motion  calling on government to introduce a waiver system for schools with water charges arrears.
“I hope that in the time ahead myself and my Sinn Féin colleagues on the Council can continue to deliver on issues of relevance to people in communities like
Cabra”, McGrattan said.
