Sinn Féin Fermanagh South Tyrone MP Michelle Gildernew has said that the serious fire at party offices in Lisnaskea last week will not just impact on the work of Sinn Féin but also a community organisation that supports the victims of state violence and the local community who use the busy advice centre.
“While it is unclear how the fire started the damage seems to be fairly extensive with the top three floors of the building very badly damaged and serious damage to the main party offices”, Ms Gildernew said:
“This is a base for my constituency service in Fermanagh and the office is also used by other elected representatives.
“This will not just impact on the work of Sinn Féin but also a community organisation that supports the victims of state violence and the local community who use the busy advice centre.
“We now have to assess the damage and look at what can be recovered in terms of correspondence and files. Then we will have to set about the job of rebuilding our base in the area. I hope that we will still be in a position to offer our support to the local community but would ask people who have contacted the offices in recent days to have a little patience and to contact us again at a later date.”
