British Army documents discovered

By Mick Naughton.

Classified British army documents with instructions for using weapons such as grenade launchers and `Shrike' exploders have been found outside Gortin in County Tyrone.

A man who regularly jogs near the Glens area discovered the documents inside a Dunnes Stores shopping bag as he parked his car before setting off for his weekly run. The isolated car park where the material was found is used regularly by members of the public.

As well as the weapons instructions the bag contained British army codes and the Rules Of Engagement or `yellow card' regulations outlining when a soldier is allowed to open fire. A British soldier's right to question individuals about their movements and what to do in ``ambushes'' and ``riot control'' orders were also included.
