Volunteers Michael Gaughan & Frank Stagg Commemoration County Mayo

West Tyrone MP Pat Doherty gave the oration

THE annual Gaughan/Stagg Commemoration took place in Ballina, County Mayo, on Sunday, June 27th.
Mayo men Michael Gaughan and Frank Stagg died on hunger strike in English prisons in 1974 and 1976 respectively.
The heroes who took up the fight in England were paid tribute to in a parade from Ballina Cathedral to their graves in Leigue Cemetery, where West Tyrone MP Pat Doherty gave the oration.
After the ceremonies, there was a local launch of Donal Donnelly’s book, Prisoner 1082.
