Devolution legislation passed at Westminster
Emergency legislation allowing the agreement reached between Sinn Féin and the DUP to form a Six County Executive on 8 May cleared both Houses of Parliament at Westminster on Tuesday night.
In the House of Commons Six County Direct Ruler, Peter Hain, welcomed what he described as the ‘triumph of peace over conflict’.
Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern said he would be meeting the First Minister-designate, Ian Paisley, next week.
Allister quits DUP
DUP MEP Jim Allister has quit the party following the agreement reached with Sinn Féin on Monday.
Allister said the Paisley Adams press conference at Stormont had “made his stomach churn”.
Allister has not resigned his seat as an MEP.
