Dublin Sinn Féin has launched a discussion document calling for investment and reform in Dublin Fire Brigade. A Safer Dublin was launched last Tuesday 21 March at a press conference adressed by Aengus O Snodaigh TD, Councillor Daithí Doolan and Tony McDonnell, SIPTU Convenor for Dublin Fire Brigade. The event was chaired by recently selected Sinn Féin candidate for Dublin Mid-West Joanne Spain.

Daithí Doolan said the document was the product of a great deal of work between representatives of Sinn Féin and people involved in the provision of firefighting and emergency ambulance provision in Dublin at both frontline and management levels. "There are a number of common sense proposals in this document that can effectively and rapidly be put into place, especially at a local government level, and while the focus is on Dublin, there are a number of recommendations that have national implications, which we feel constitute a valuable contribution to the debate about reform of one of our most important, but perhaps undervalued, emergency services", he said.
