Ó Caoláin in East Belfast

Sinn Féin Dáil leader and Cavan/Monaghan TD Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin visited unionist East Belfast on Monday and met political, business and community representatives. The event was a fact-finding mission of Oireachtas members sponsored by Co-Operation Ireland.

The tour included unionist areas in East Belfast and County Antrim. Meeting representatives from the community and voluntary sector and local business people, the Co-Operation Ireland delegation discussed issues of mutual concern and shared perspectives on a cross-community, cross-border basis.

All parties and independents in the Oireachtas were represented in the delegation.

The day concluded with a meeting between the Oireachtas delegation and Ulster Unionist Party representatives, including party leader Reg Empey MLA and MLAs Fred Cobain and Alan McFarland.

"This was an interesting and useful day's work, particularly the contact with the community sector and the young people who have participated in the Civic Link programme," stated Ó Caoláin.
