Priory Hall families 100 days out of their homes
FINE GAEL TD HECKLED OFF PROTEST PLATFORM | ANGRY RESIDENTS MARK ANNIVERSARY WITH CALL TO ENVIRONMENT MINISTER PHIL HOGAN
» BY MARK MOLONEY
THERE was widespread anger on the streets of the north Dublin suburb of Donaghmede on Sunday 14 February as more than 700 people held a protest to mark 100 days since the residents of Priory Hall were evacuated from their homes.
Residents of the complex were evacuated last October due to serious safety failings with the half-finished complex. They are now living in rented and temporary accommodation with costs being covered by Dublin City Council. But the council has launched legal proceedings to transfer this responsibility. If succesful, this will mean that residents will have to continue paying off mortgages for homes they cannot live in while also paying rent for their alternative accommodation.
