Sinn Féin's strong challenge in Ballymoney

Sinn Féin is set to make its strongest ever challenge to win seats to Ballymoney Council in the Council elections in May.

At the recent election convention, the party picked Anita Cavlan to stand in Bushvale and Cllr Philip McGuigan and Daithí McKay to stand in Bann Valley. The party is also hopeful of running a candidate in Ballymoney Town.

Says Philip McGuigan: "This election will give the people of Ballymoney the opportunity to elect at least three Sinn Féin councillors. I believe that the two candidates selected along with myself, Daithí McKay in Bann Valley and Anita Cavlan in the Bushvale/Loughgiel ward, are an excellent choice and will work tirelessly for the ratepayers.

"Daithí is a young, but experienced, full-time Sinn Féin activist and Anita, who has previously served as a councillor in Dungannon, will be a tremendous asset. Her contribution to the community through her work in the Sinn Féin Advice Centre is immeasurable. She will also provide a much needed female voice within the Council Chamber."
