Woman and children attacked in Derry

A Derry woman and two young children were left traumatised after they were attacked by two loyalists at Clooney Terrace at around 6pm on Saturday 15 January.

The woman's son and his eight-year-old friend, who was wearing a Celtic shirt, had just left a video shop and were returning to the woman's car when two men, in their late 30s or early 40s, walked past and kicked the car.

The woman got out of her vehicle and challenged the men. The pair then attacked the woman and punched and kicked her. One of the thugs slammed the door of the car into her chest several times.

"They told me to 'Get into the car you fucking Fenian' and called me a 'fucking Fenian slut'," she said.

The woman said she has never had any bother like this in her life before but added that it is disgraceful that grown men could act this way towards a woman and children in this day and age.
