Nationalist teen attacked with hammer and knife

A teenager escaped with his life after a loyalist gang attacked him as he walked home along the Antrim Road, North Belfast, at around 12.30am on Sunday morning 5 December.

In the attack, the unnamed 18-year-old was beaten and stabbed and needed 40 staples to back and arm wounds. According to the teenager, he was walking near the Fortwilliam shops when he was confronted by three loyalists, who attacked him with a knife and claw hammer without warning.

Speaking to An Phoblacht North Belfast Sinn Féin councillor Danny Lavery said the sectarian attack was premeditated and sickening.
