New President for Conradh na Gaeilge

Last weekend, Nollaig Ó Gadhra was elected President of Conradh na Gaeilge at the organisation's Ard Fheis in Ennis, County Clare. Ó Gadhra is the 30th President of Conradh na Gaeilge since the organisation was founded in 1893.

He has been active in Conradh since his youth and has been a member of its Executive, An Coiste Gnó, for many years.

The theme of this year's Ard Fheis was 'The Status of the Irish Language in the European Union'. Among the guests was Ireland's recently appointed language commissioner, Seán Ó Cuirreáin, who praising the organisation's language campaigns and its achievements through the years.
