Ghaelscoil an Dhamba opens

On the occasion of the official opening of Ghaelscoil an Dhamba in West Belfast last Friday, Sinn Féin's Bairbre de Brún paid tribute to those working tirelessly to promote Irish medium education. Ghaelscoil an Dhamba is the first ever Irish medium primary school to receive statutory funding from the day it opened.

"It is a tribute to all those who have worked tirelessly over the years to set up, maintain and fund Irish schools that we are finally in a new era where Ghaelscoil an Dhamba has received funding from day one," said de Brún. "This is an amazing achievement when you consider that these schools are often sited in areas of high deprivation. The sacrifices made by parents, teachers and supporters of the Gaelscoileanna alike, have given children in this constituency and beyond a great start in life."

Bairbre de Brún also extended a hearty céad míle fáilte to Minister Éamon Ó Cuív, who performed the official opening of the school.
