£20,000 for the Colombia 3 campaign

The Bring them Home campaign, organised to secure the release of Niall Connolly, Martin McCauley and Jim Monaghan, who are currently held in a Colombian prison, has raised £20,000 during a series of fundraisers held in Dungiven and East Derry.

Cliona O'Kane of East Derry Bring Them Home thanked those who supporting the men's human rights. Bring them Home chair Caitríona Ruane said that the respect for human rights and justice shown by the people of East Derry and Dungiven shows the Colombian authorities that Irish people will not accept Irish citizens being mistreated.

"Each time the trial is adjourned, the Colombian authorities hope that our international observers will not be back," she said, "but because of fundraisers like these and others all over Ireland, we are going back and each time we go to the trial our delegations have been growing."
