Unionist mob murder man, leave one critical and beat pregnant woman 
ONE MAN was beaten to death, another was fighting for his life in hospital and a pregnant woman was mercilessly battered with baseball bats by a unionist mob in Coleraine celebrating Glasgow Rangers winning the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. The attackers ignored the woman's pleas that she was pregnant and continued to beat her. The onslaught came on Sunday evening when several cars, carrying 40 men and youths, many chanting UDA slogans, swept into the nationalist Heights neighbourhood. Child abuse scandal - shameful 2002 deal must be undone 
FOLLOWING last week's release of the shocking Report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse, the Irish Government has come under mounting pressure to undo a controversial deal it did with religious orders in 2002 to compensate victims of abuse in religious run institutions. The Ryan Report showed that thousands of children were abused, raped, assaulted and terrorised over a period of three decades in institutions run mainly by religious orders in the 26 Counties. TWENTY-EIGHT years ago, on 1 August 1981, Kevin Lynch died on hunger strike in the H-Blocks, Long Kesh. Kevin had been on hunger strike for 71 days. He was just 25 years of age. Last Monday would have been Kevin's 53rd birthday. Joint First Minister Martin McGuinness was in Park, County Derry, on Sunday night to pay tribute to the young sportsman and heroic republican and the onus on us to fulfill the legacy that Kevin and his fellow Hunger Strikers left us. In the early hours of Saturday 23 May, a car belonging to Belfast Sinn Féin chairperson Bobby Storey was attacked and vandalised with black paint in the Andersonstown area. SINN FÉIN Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald has again called on the Left in Irish politics to come together in an 'Alliance for Change' as she launched a poster and leaflet outlining the similarities between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. Speaking at the GPO in Dublin on Friday 22 May, she said people have to realise that if they want change they have to vote for change and that a vote for Fine Gael is a wasted vote in this election.
