Tragic period of history to be recalled in series of events

SINN FÉIN President Gerry Adams has launched a programme of events to mark the 20th Anniversary of a tragic period in Irish history in March 1988 which witnessed a series of tragic events including the summary execution of IRA Volunteers Mairéad Farrell, Dan McCann and Seán Savage in Gibraltar and the murderous attack on mourners at their funerals.

'Unity, Prosperity, Equality' top

THE SINN FÉIN Ard Fheis will take place in the RDS in Dublin this weekend (Friday 29 February and Saturday 1 March). Two thousand delegates and visitors are expected to attend the Ard Fheis, the main theme of which is 'Unity-Prosperity-Equality'. The other big issue to be debated is the Lisbon Treaty.

Garda Ombudsman overburdened and under-resourced

Sinn FÉin Justice spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD had what he called "a useful and informative meeting" with the three Garda Ombudsman Commissioners on Tuesday, 26 February, during which he outlined some of the party's concerns in relation to its operation so far.
