Assembly election : Sinn Féin vote highly motivated

As An Phoblacht went to print on Wednesday afternoon, with voters in the North going to the polls in the Assembly election, reports from Sinn Féin canvassers across the Six Counties were very positive. Turnout is high in nationalist and republican areas, despite a repetitive media message in recent weeks of unprecedented voter apathy.

Former POWs refute anti-Sinn Féin ad

A number of former republican prisoners whose names appeared in an anti-Sinn Féin advertisement printed in Belfast daily The Irish News and The Derry Journal have expressed anger that their names were used without their consent.

Assembly candidate gets bullet in post

Billy Leonard

Sinn Féin's Billy Leonard, a candidate for east Derry in this week's elections to the Six County Assembly, received a bullet in the post to his home address in Portstewart on Tuesday. He opened the envelope to find it wrapped in bubble-wrap: there was no message.
