The EU Parliament has singled out the 26 Counties for failing to do everything in its power to prevent flights of extraordinary rendition through its air space and airports. The Irish Government was strongly criticised this week in an official EU report on the alleged transportation of suspects by the CIA in so-called "rendition flights".

No mandate for Harney's 'disgraceful' private hospital plan

The Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South Central, Aengus Ó Snodaigh, has called on 26-County Health Minister Mary Harney to scrap her plan to allocate land at public hospital sites to the developers of private hospitals before contracts are signed and the state is bound by legal agreements.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin 'recovering well' after heart attack

Sinn Féin has confirmed that the party's Dáil leader, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, is "recovering well" after suffering a heart attack at his home in the early hours of Friday 9 February.
